What Does Commercial Refrigeration Have to Do with Eddie Bauer?

What Does Commercial Refrigeration Have to Do with Eddie Bauer.jpg

Eddie Bauer is one of the country's most popular outdoor apparel makers. Headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, the company's origin goes all the way back to 1920, when Pacific Northwest outdoorsman, Eddie Bauer, established the company in Seattle. But how far has it come, and what does today's Eddie Bauer have to do with commercial refrigeration?

Current company president and CEO, Mike Egeck, has made it a company goal to revert Eddie Bauer's image from just a clothing store to the original concept of gear and performance products that represent the company's founding. According to Egeck, Eddie Bauer's image has shifted to more of a clothing store than an outdoorwear store, and over the last several years, he's placed great emphasis on underscoring the company's past. And he's backing it up by allowing customers to see how their gear will actually perform in the environs for which it was designed.

If you've been to Bellevue Square lately and visited the Eddie Bauer flagship location, you might have seen a new feature called the Eddie Bauer Ice Box. Try on a coat from the inventors of the original down jacket, and you can see how your new gear will function in sub freezing temperatures. There's even a fan to simulate wind chills. All you have to do is step inside the walk-in ice box, and test out how well those down jackets actually perform.

In order to create these "ideal" conditions, though, Eddie Bauer had to create the perfect ice box. That's why they used walk-in freezers from Norlake. Manufacturers of walk-in coolers, freezers, and combination cooler/freezers, Norlake has a range of options from Kold Locker™ walk-in configurations to the Fast-Trak® Walk-in line to Fineline™ Walk-ins that are custom made.

By sealing in properly conditioned air, the flagship Eddie Bauer store's Eddie Bauer Ice Box is the perfect environment to test the weather resistance of Eddie Bauer products. What works for their situation might not work for your Pacific Northwest foodservice operation, though.
